xslt 1.6.15

Additional Details

these previous versions should be considered unusable due to the lack of proper parser implementation features. Versions 2.0 and above are a closer match to the standards.

There is a newer version of this package available.
See the version list below for details.
dotnet tool install --global xslt --version 1.6.15

xslt

Command-line XSLT 3.0/4.0 processor for .NET. Transform XML documents from the terminal using the PhoenixmlDb XSLT engine.

Installation

dotnet tool install -g xslt

Usage

# Transform XML with a stylesheet
xslt stylesheet.xsl input.xml

# Write output to a file
xslt -o result.html report.xsl data.xml

# Start from a named template (no source needed)
xslt -it main generate.xsl

# Pass parameters
xslt -p year=2026 -p title="Report" style.xsl data.xml

# Read source from stdin
cat data.xml | xslt transform.xsl

# Show timing breakdown
xslt --timing style.xsl large-input.xml

# Validate a stylesheet without running
xslt --dry-run style.xsl

# Stream large files (lower memory)
xslt --stream style.xsl large-input.xml

Features

  • XSLT 3.0/4.0 — packages, streaming, maps/arrays, higher-order functions, JSON output
  • Multiple output methods — XML, HTML, XHTML, text, JSON, adaptive
  • Streaming — process large files without loading into memory
  • xsl:result-document — generate multiple output files in one transform
  • Parameters — pass values from the command line
  • Timing — built-in performance profiling
  • Tracing — log template matching, function calls, and built-in rules

Takes PhoenixmlDb.XQuery 1.6.15, so the `xslt` tool and anything embedding this engine pick up
two XQuery-side fixes:

- **`fn:current-output-uri()`'s sibling problem, in reverse** — adaptive `xs:double` serialization
 had two implementations that disagreed. `xquery -o adaptive 'xs:double(41) + 1'` printed `42`
where the library returned `4.2e1`. W3C Serialization 3.1 §10 settles it — an `xs:double` is
serialized with `format-number(?, '0.0##########################e0')` — so the library was
right, and the CLI now delegates to it rather than carrying a second implementation.
- **Arithmetic on a date, time or duration** raised a raw `InvalidCastException` where XPTY0004 is
required. The cause was `xs:duration`, the abstract base type: F&O defines the duration
operators only on `xs:yearMonthDuration` and `xs:dayTimeDuration`, so mixing the base type in is
 a type error. W3C XQTS 29,205 → 29,316 of 31,414 (93.32%), `InvalidCastException` 125 → 14.

No XSLT engine change. Conformance is unmoved at **10,031/10,630 (94.3%)**: seven of ten groups
byte-identical, and the three that moved (`attr` −1, `strm1` −3, `strm2` −4) returned to their
previous values on re-run, which is the flakiness band those groups have shown all week
(`strm1` 694–700, `strm2` 678–684). Unit suite 1483.
