AlibreObjectModel.Mcp (.NET tool)

AlibreObjectModel.Mcp is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server. It exposes the Alibre Design CAD API (parts, sketches, features, parameters) as MCP tools over stdio. Use it from Claude Desktop, Claude Code, or any MCP client.

Requirements

  • Windows x64.
  • Alibre Design 29.x, installed and running. This server drives Alibre over COM. It does not redistribute AlibreX.dll; it loads that at runtime from your licensed Alibre install.
  • .NET 8+ runtime for dotnet tool install, or the .NET 10 SDK for dnx.

Installation

dotnet tool install --global AlibreObjectModel.Mcp

Run it without installing (needs the .NET 10 SDK):

v1.0.2 - Robustness: each COM call now runs on a dedicated worker thread under a 2-minute budget; a call that wedges is abandoned and the Alibre connection is rebuilt on the next call, instead of stalling every later tool behind the shared lock. A dropped Alibre connection (RPC server unavailable, application closed and reopened) is now detected and re-acquired instead of failing until the server is restarted. v1.0.1 - Fix: create_part now creates a normal solid part (previously it created a Sheet Metal part, which broke the sketch/extrude flow). Fix: alibre_attach / save / close / active_session_info no longer throw a COMException when no document is open; they report "no active session" cleanly. Internal: selection logic extracted for unit testing (no behavior change). v1.0.0 - Initial public release, 25 CAD tools over stdio.
