paxter-gui — Paxter Studio (GUI)

A self-hosting ASP.NET Core .NET global tool that is Paxter Studio: it serves the Paxter Studio web UI and runs the browser-workflow recorder and runner entirely in C# (Playwright + YamlDotNet). No Node, Python, or license key required.

Start in four steps

# 1. Install the tool globally (.NET 10 SDK required)
dotnet tool install --global paxter-gui

# 2. Make a workspace and enter it
mkdir my-paxter-workflow && cd my-paxter-workflow

# 3. Scaffold a starter config + example workflow (does not overwrite)
paxter-gui init

# 4. Install the Chromium browser used to record and run (first run only)
paxter-gui setup

Then launch Studio in your browser:

paxter-gui

It opens automatically on http://localhost:6070 (use --port N for another port, --no-open to skip opening a browser).

Where things live

• Workflows & recordings — ./Outputs (*.yaml / *.yml). Record a journey in the Studio recorder and save it here, or edit workflows directly in the Builder.
• Run evidence — ./.paxter-output — one folder per run containing output.json, step screenshots, an optional video.webm, and a standalone index.html report.

Commands

The recorder captures clicks/typing/selection into a resilient locator schema; the runner replays a workflow, screenshots every step, writes a PaxOutput report, and can record video. Both are faithful C# reimplementations of the original Paxter Studio engine and serve the existing built React UI unchanged.
