Troolio.Core
Troolio.Core provides event-sourced actor and CQRS framework primitives built on Microsoft Orleans. The package includes the Troolio.Core assembly and its packaged Orleankka assemblies; supporting NuGet dependencies remain represented in the package dependency graph.
Requirements
- Targets .NET 10 (
net10.0); use a .NET 10 SDK to build and a compatible .NET 10 runtime to host it. - Built against Microsoft Orleans 10. Use a compatible Orleans 10 host and align Orleans package versions across the application.
- The package is distributed under the Troolio license agreement included as
license.txt. Review and accept those terms before use.
Event and projection boundaries
The framework has an opt-in, selected command path that plans a bounded causal closure of events in memory. When a host selects and wires that path, the complete participant batch is submitted to a compatible atomic store as one commit. That store contract requires the participant events, required durable projection handoffs, and completion evidence to commit atomically; an incomplete or unsupported commit must not be reported as success. The in-memory planning step alone is not durable, and this description does not imply that a production ingress route is enabled by default.
Projection handoffs make committed events available to projection workers; read models are eventually updated, not part of a synchronous read-side guarantee. The application host is responsible for configuring and operating projection consumers, persistence, retry/recovery, and any Server-Sent Events (SSE) endpoint or other client transport. This package does not claim to enable a production HTTP or SSE route.
Host security and contextual operations
The serving host must authenticate the caller and authorize the current principal for the command and target before dispatch. For a selected contextual operation, the host must provide trusted, per-call context and source observations from authoritative sources, bind them to the authenticated identity, command, target actor/stream, and applicable route/deployment fence, and enforce the associated ownership and lifecycle checks. Caller-controlled message headers or a previously signed envelope are not substitutes for current host authentication and authorization.
The host and store owners must define and enforce source-evidence freshness and explicit retention periods for prepared source evidence and operation/recovery completion records. Keep completion evidence available for at least the accepted command retry/replay window; reject missing, expired, or unverifiable contextual evidence. The framework does not choose deployment-specific authorization, source, or retention policies for the host.
External effects
External effects are not made exactly-once by an event transaction. Where durable effect intents are used, the provider must enforce durable idempotency keys for the full effect and retry lifetime, return a definitive terminal receipt only for a known outcome, and leave uncertain outcomes retryable with the same key. Hosts must retain effect intents and provider deduplication records for compatible periods; otherwise a retry after loss of that history can repeat a visible effect.
Third-party components
This package also includes Orleankka assemblies. Their upstream origin and Apache-2.0 terms are documented in THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.md, and the original license text is included as Orleankka.LICENSE.txt. The Troolio license file applies to Troolio-owned content and does not replace the license for those third-party assemblies.
