Qyl.OpenTelemetry.SemanticConventions

A consolidated build of five .NET packages that together cover the OpenTelemetry semantic-conventions lifecycle — from upstream registry pull, through Roslyn-time constant generation, into compile-time analyzers that police consumer code.

Package Role
Qyl.OpenTelemetry.SemanticConventions Stable attribute keys, generated by Weaver from upstream master-programmatic.yaml.
Qyl.OpenTelemetry.SemanticConventions.Incubating Incubating attribute keys, separate package so consumers opt in to instability.
Qyl.OpenTelemetry.SemanticConventions.SourceGeneration Roslyn incremental source generator. Emits SchemaUrl and per-domain attribute constants from registry input at consumer build time.
Qyl.OpenTelemetry.SemanticConventions.Analyzers Roslyn diagnostic analyzers. Flag deprecated semconv usage, missing required attributes, schema-url omission, etc.
Qyl.OpenTelemetry.SemanticConventions.Nuke Nuke build component. Exposes IUpstreamConventions (Weaver registry pipeline) and IDomainConventionsApi (TypeSpec API pipeline). The build component this repo dogfoods on its own packages.

Dogfood loop

eng/build/ is a Nuke host that consumes Qyl.OpenTelemetry.SemanticConventions.Nuke via ProjectReference. Running ./build.sh regenerates the stable + incubating attribute .g.cs files from master-programmatic.yaml, seeds the analyzer catalog, and compiles the source generator's resolved-registry input. Any divergence between the committed .g.cs and what the pipeline would emit fails CI — the analyzer/generator catalog cannot drift from the registry by accident.

Upstream path

If the upstream OpenTelemetry .NET source-generator effort (open-telemetry/opentelemetry-dotnet-contrib#4424) lands, the SourceGeneration, Analyzers, and Nuke packages ship as one cohesive unit. Type identities are preserved so the only consumer-side change is the PackageReference id.
