Looking up the license from a Repo

  1. The root folder of the repo is interrogated for a list of files.
  2. Any file that has 'license' (or 'licence') is a candidate file. The name check is case insensitive.
    1. These files will be determined to be candidate files 'MIT-LICENSE', 'License.txt', 'BSD-Licence'
  3. The file is downloaded and compared against the boilerplate text from 'https://opensource.org/license/SPDXCode'
    1. Both the file contents and the boilerplate text are sanitized. This means all carriage returns, new lines, and tabs are converted to spaces, all double spaces are converted to a single space, and any smart quotes are replaced with vanilla quotes.
    2. The comparison is case insensitive.
    3. If the candidate file contains the boiler plate text, then the license URL is set to the download URL.
