DWIS.RigOS.Contracts.Rheometry

DWIS.RigOS.Contracts.Rheometry is the authoritative, vendor-neutral .NET contract for exchanging online-rheometry flow curves on the DWIS platform. Instrument-specific bridges such as RheoSense and BaraLogix can publish the same payload shape, and consumers can process it without depending on a particular instrument or bridge implementation.

The package targets .NET 8 and is published on NuGet.org:

dotnet add package DWIS.RigOS.Contracts.Rheometry

Version 1 payload

The wire payload is an ordered JSON array of DWIS.RigOS.Contracts.Rheometry.V1.FlowCurveMeasurement objects. Each object is one point on a flow curve and contains these required properties:

Property Distribution Canonical SI unit Meaning
ConcentricCylindersRotationalSpeed Dirac rad/s Equivalent concentric-cylinder rotational speed.
ConcentricCylindersShearRateNewtonianHypothesis Gaussian 1/s Shear rate calculated under the Newtonian hypothesis.
ConcentricCylindersShearRateNonNewtonianHypothesis Gaussian 1/s Shear rate calculated with the non-Newtonian correction.
ConcentricCylindersTorque Gaussian N.m Equivalent concentric-cylinder torque.
ConcentricCylindersShearStressNewtonianHypothesis Gaussian Pa Shear stress calculated under the Newtonian hypothesis.
ConcentricCylindersShearStressNonNewtonianHypothesis Gaussian Pa Shear stress calculated with the non-Newtonian correction.

The distribution-bearing properties preserve value uncertainty instead of reducing every engineering quantity to a scalar. Gaussian values use Mean, an optional StandardDeviation, and required MinValue/MaxValue support bounds. The Dirac value represents a chosen deterministic value and also carries its required support bounds. Consumers must not treat a missing standard deviation as zero uncertainty.

All values on the wire use the SI units listed above. Display-unit conversion belongs at the consumer boundary and must not change the stored or transmitted value.

The contract intentionally describes a flow curve, not its operational context. Sensor identity, active-pit versus return-flow location, measured or extrapolated pressure and temperature, and true versus Couette/Fann-35 interpretation remain in the semantic description of the signal that carries the payload.

Schema and semantic metadata

The package embeds and packs three versioned resources under Contracts/Rheometry/v1:

  • contract.json registers the family name, version, route, schema, and metadata documents.
  • schema.json is the machine-readable JSON Schema for the wire payload.
  • metadata.json is JSON-LD metadata describing quantities, SI units, distributions, and rheological hypotheses.

The canonical public documents default to:

  • https://dwis.digiwells.no/Rheometry/v1/metadata.json

They are served by DWIS.RigOS.Contracts.Service. A deployment may use another public host by configuring that service; the embedded route remains /Rheometry/v1.

The static RheometryContract class exposes the version, route, document paths, and default public URLs so applications do not need to repeat string literals.

Compatibility and ownership

The C# model, JSON Schema, metadata, and manifest are one contract and must be changed together. Compatible clarifications may retain v1. A breaking wire change requires a new namespace and route, for example Rheometry.V2 and /Rheometry/v2; published v1 documents must remain available to existing consumers.

The package owns only the shared transport contract. It does not own bridge algorithms, semantic signal identities, persistence, Blackboard publication, or user-interface models.

Build and verification

From the Common repository root:

dotnet build .\DWIS.RigOS.Contracts.Rheometry\DWIS.RigOS.Contracts.Rheometry.csproj
dotnet test .\DWIS.RigOS.Contracts.Rheometry.Tests\DWIS.RigOS.Contracts.Rheometry.Tests.csproj

The repository-level scripts/Build-Packages.ps1 command builds, tests, packs, and verifies the complete package family. Package versions are controlled by Directory.Build.props and releases are performed by the repository's manual trusted-publishing workflows.
