dotnetreport.frontend

The Dotnet Report user interface on its own: the report builder, dashboards and setup pages.

Package What's in it Install it in
dotnetreport Everything A single web project
dotnetreport.frontend JavaScript, CSS, images, Razor views, the two page controllers, gulpfile and npm package list The web project that hosts your views
dotnetreport.backend API controller, report model, scheduled job and their NuGet libraries Your .NET API project

Install dotnetreport.frontend and dotnetreport.backend at the same version.

What's included

  • Scripts/dotnetreport.js, Scripts/dotnetreport-helper.js, Scripts/dotnetreport-setup.js
  • Content/dotnetreport.css, Content/img/report-logo.png
  • Views/DotNetReport/Index.cshtml, Dashboard.cshtml, ReportPrint.cshtml
  • Views/DotNetSetup/Index.cshtml
  • Views/Shared/_Layout.Report.cshtml and the _DotnetReport*Partial.cshtml partials
  • Controllers/DotNetReportController.cs and Controllers/DotNetSetupController.cs, which return the views
  • gulpfile.dotnetreport.js and package.dotnetreport.json

DotNetReportController and the print view use DotNetReportApiController and DotNetReportPrintModel from dotnetreport.backend. Your web project needs a reference to the project where the backend package is installed.

Copy the files into your project

Commit your project to source control first, so you can merge any customizations back in after an upgrade.

  1. Add GeneratePathProperty="true" to the package reference:

    <ItemGroup>
      <PackageReference Include="dotnetreport.frontend" Version="x.x.x" GeneratePathProperty="true" />
    </ItemGroup>

  2. Add this target to the project file and build once:

    <PropertyGroup>
      <ContentFilesPath>$(Pkgdotnetreport_frontend)\contentFiles\any\any\</ContentFilesPath>
    </PropertyGroup>
    <Target Name="CopyDotNetReportFrontend" BeforeTargets="PreBuildEvent">
      <Copy SourceFiles="$(ContentFilesPath)gulpfile.dotnetreport.js" DestinationFiles="$(ProjectDir)gulpfile.dotnetreport.js" />
      <Copy SourceFiles="$(ContentFilesPath)package.dotnetreport.json" DestinationFiles="$(ProjectDir)package.dotnetreport.json" />
      <Copy SourceFiles="$(ContentFilesPath)Content/img/report-logo.png" DestinationFiles="$(ProjectDir)Content/img/report-logo.png" />
      <Copy SourceFiles="$(ContentFilesPath)Content/dotnetreport.css" DestinationFiles="$(ProjectDir)Content/dotnetreport.css" />
      <Copy SourceFiles="$(ContentFilesPath)Scripts/dotnetreport.js" DestinationFiles="$(ProjectDir)Scripts/dotnetreport.js" />
      <Copy SourceFiles="$(ContentFilesPath)Scripts/dotnetreport-helper.js" DestinationFiles="$(ProjectDir)Scripts/dotnetreport-helper.js" />
      <Copy SourceFiles="$(ContentFilesPath)Scripts/dotnetreport-setup.js" DestinationFiles="$(ProjectDir)Scripts/dotnetreport-setup.js" />
      <Copy SourceFiles="$(ContentFilesPath)Controllers/DotNetReportController.cs" DestinationFiles="$(ProjectDir)Controllers/DotNetReportController.cs" />
      <Copy SourceFiles="$(ContentFilesPath)Controllers/DotNetSetupController.cs" DestinationFiles="$(ProjectDir)Controllers/DotNetSetupController.cs" />
      <Copy SourceFiles="$(ContentFilesPath)Views/DotNetReport/Index.cshtml" DestinationFiles="$(ProjectDir)Views/DotNetReport/Index.cshtml" />
      <Copy SourceFiles="$(ContentFilesPath)Views/DotNetReport/Dashboard.cshtml" DestinationFiles="$(ProjectDir)Views/DotNetReport/Dashboard.cshtml" />
      <Copy SourceFiles="$(ContentFilesPath)Views/DotNetReport/ReportPrint.cshtml" DestinationFiles="$(ProjectDir)Views/DotNetReport/ReportPrint.cshtml" />
      <Copy SourceFiles="$(ContentFilesPath)Views/DotNetSetup/Index.cshtml" DestinationFiles="$(ProjectDir)Views/DotNetSetup/Index.cshtml" />
      <Copy SourceFiles="$(ContentFilesPath)Views/shared/_Layout.Report.cshtml" DestinationFiles="$(ProjectDir)Views/Shared/_Layout.Report.cshtml" />
      <Copy SourceFiles="$(ContentFilesPath)Views/shared/_DotnetReportHeaderPartial.cshtml" DestinationFiles="$(ProjectDir)Views/Shared/_DotnetReportHeaderPartial.cshtml" />
      <Copy SourceFiles="$(ContentFilesPath)Views/shared/_DotnetReportJsLibrariesPartial.cshtml" DestinationFiles="$(ProjectDir)Views/Shared/_DotnetReportJsLibrariesPartial.cshtml" />
      <Copy SourceFiles="$(ContentFilesPath)Views/shared/_DotnetReportTemplatesPartial.cshtml" DestinationFiles="$(ProjectDir)Views/Shared/_DotnetReportTemplatesPartial.cshtml" />
    </Target>

  3. Remove the CopyDotNetReportFrontend target after the build. Otherwise every build overwrites your changes.

  4. Merge package.dotnetreport.json into your package.json (or rename it if you don't have one), restore npm packages, and run the gulp tasks in gulpfile.dotnetreport.js to copy the client libraries into wwwroot.
