Unique Identifier

This uses URL-friendly base 64 characters to generate unique identitifiers. It is based on YouTube's identifier model. To generate an inexhaustible list of unique ids, all you have to do is increase the length by one.

  • One Character: 64 unique IDs.
  • Two Characters: 4,096 unique IDs.
  • Three Characters: Over 262,000 unique IDs.
  • Eleven Characters: Approximately 73 quintillion unique IDs (bet you didn't know this is a valid number).

Getting Started

  • To install our package using the .NET CLI: dotnet add package UniqueIdentifier --version 1.0.4
  • Installation using Visual Studio

    • Click install
  • Installation using .NET Package Manager Console NuGet\Install-Package UniqueIdentifier -Version 1.0.4
  • Finally, import into file Using UniqueIdentifier

Method Parameters

  • Input Type:

    • Parameter : exisitingIds
    • Type: HashSet<string>
    • Description: It is provided by the user based on their already existing identifiers.

  • Input Type:

    • Parameter: length
    • Type: int
    • Description: This is the length of the returned id. It has a default value of 11 but can be overridden

  • Output Type

    • Type: string
    • Description: the unique identifier generated
