Thunder.MonoGame.Avalonia

Run MonoGame games inside an Avalonia desktop application.

What's new in v0.2.0

  • Documentation site — API reference, nine how-to guides, and an architecture overview at docs.thundersizzle.tech.
  • XML documentation on all public types and members, with runnable examples via Thunder.DocSnippets.

What it does

Thunder.MonoGame.Avalonia compiles MonoGame from source and exposes a MonoGameControl Avalonia control that hosts an OpenGL game loop. Drop the control into any Avalonia window or panel and point it at your Game subclass — no SDL window, no separate process.

Quick start

  1. Reference this package in your Avalonia desktop project.
  2. Add MonoGameControl to your AXAML layout.
  3. Subclass Game and assign it to the control's Game property.

A minimal project template is available. Install it first, then create a new project:

dotnet new install Thunder.MonoGame.Avalonia.Templates
dotnet new mgavalonia -n MyGame

See the minimal setup guide for a full walkthrough.
