Installing the IG Command-line Tool

The ScaleOut message-recording command-line utility is a .NET tool designed to manage existing message recordings by listing both staged and persisted message recordings with their properties, persisting staged recordings to the user-defined persistence storage (e.g., SQL Server database), and staging persisted recordings back to the specified digital twin deployment. It is a console application that communicates with the ScaleOut Digital Twins(tm) middle-ware layer via the HTTPS protocol and uses its authentication mechanism.

Prerequisites

• .NET Core 6.0 SDK (or higher)

Installation

Install from NuGet:

dotnet tool install -g Scaleout.DigitalTwin.Tools.MessageRecording

The -g flag installs the tool globally for the user. If omitted, the tool will be installed as a local tool for the current directory. See dotnet tool install for more information.

Updating to the Latest Release

dotnet tool update -g Scaleout.DigitalTwin.Tools.MessageRecording

Omit the -g flag if the tool was installed to the local folder.

Uninstall

dotnet tool uninstall -g Scaleout.DigitalTwin.Tools.MessageRecording 

Omit the -g flag if the tool was installed to the local folder.

To see the list of supported tool's commands:

message-recording --help
