OSK.Petra.Logging

A logging provider for the Petra game suite and framework. Provides an ability to access a variety of log sinks that will process and handle logs through the standard .NET ILogger mechanisms. This library provides additional log collection that can then be later retrieved at runtime if a user requires showing or handling logs in-game.

Usage

Settings for the log collection and handling can be set when adding the respective AddPetraLogging to either an IServiceCollection or ILoggingBuilder. Additionally, log sinks can be added using standard .NET DI rules that will then be sent the logs as they are recorded. Log filtering can be applied using the .NET filtering configuration settings, see Logging in .NET for more information.

Core components of the library include:

  • ILogSink: a log handler that gets logs as they are received by the ILogger. Add to DI as needed for more sink handling.
  • ILogCollector: a log sink that collects and handles storage and retrieval of logs at game runtime, allowing for easier access to logs in the event a runtime log UI or similar is desired
