DocWright.Formats.Rdl

SSRS Report Definition Language (.rdl) export for DocWright: turn a document into a SQL Server Reporting Services report template.

Install

dotnet add package DocWright.Formats.Rdl

Most people should install DocWright instead — it includes this package and wires .rdl into Save.

Usage

What it produces

  • Page setup carried across from the source document
  • Tables emitted as Tablix regions
  • Images embedded in the report definition
  • Merge fields bound as dataset expressions — a MERGEFIELD named Total becomes =Fields!Total.Value, so the report is wired to data rather than carrying static text

Output targets the RDL 2016/01 and 2010/01 schemas.

A template, not a rendered report

This produces a report definition for Reporting Services to run. It does not execute a report, connect to a data source, or produce rendered output — you deploy the .rdl to a report server and supply the dataset there.

Export only

There is no RDL reader. RDL cannot carry the full document model, so a round-trip through it would lose more than it kept.
