Benevia.Core.MCP Summary
Benevia.Core.MCP provides MCP server infrastructure for exposing the Benevia OData API to AI clients via the Model Context Protocol.
This package includes:
- Generic, metadata-driven tools (
benevia_query,benevia_create,benevia_update,benevia_delete,benevia_commit,benevia_link,benevia_connection) that work against any entity exposed by the OData API - An OData loopback client that executes tool calls through the host's own API pipeline, so permissions and business logic always apply
- Server instructions that teach connected agents how to use the tool surface
Documentation
AI agents should use the documentation on the https://core.benevia.university site. Begin with the following links:

- Full documentation of the platform is here: AI Index
Install
dotnet add package Benevia.Core.MCP
Register in Program.cs
builder.Services.AddCoreMcpServer();
app.UseCoreMcp();
Connect an MCP client to http://localhost:5090/mcp with a Bearer token.
App-specific instructions
Core's server instructions are generic by design. A product can append its own app-specific context
(domain concepts, conventions) via CoreMcpOptions without putting product knowledge in Core:
builder.Services.AddCoreMcpServer(options => options.AppInstructions = """
## Application context
<product name> is a <domain> ERP. Key concepts: ...
""");
Keep AppInstructions short. MCP clients truncate the instructions block they pass to the model
(Claude Code cuts it at 2,048 bytes), and Core's generic rules already use most of that window —
roughly 500 bytes remain for the app's context on truncating clients. For the same reason Core keeps
its own instructions minimal and puts tool-specific guidance in each tool's description (each also
capped at 2,048 bytes); ClientSizeLimitTests pins these budgets.
